Part-Time Community Moderator (Multiple Regions)
Location: Multiple Regional Roles - Please see Regional information and Job codes per area listed below
About the Role
We are hiring part-time Community Moderators to support a global online community across multiple regions and languages.
This role is ideal for someone with strong judgment, clear written communication, and experience working in high-volume online environments such as forums, marketplaces, social platforms, gaming communities, customer support queues, or user-generated content platforms.
As a Community Moderator, you will help maintain a safe, useful, and high-quality experience for community members. You will review user-generated content, apply moderation guidelines, identify spam or abuse, escalate sensitive issues, and document decisions clearly. You will also serve as an important frontline signal for trends, risks, and emerging community needs.
This is a part-time, remote role with flexible scheduling needs, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on regional coverage requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Review and moderate user-generated content according to community guidelines and client-specific policies.
- Evaluate posts, comments, profiles, messages, reports, and other community activity for quality, safety, relevance, spam, abuse, or policy violations.
- Make sound decisions in situations that may not be perfectly defined.
- Document moderation actions and rationale clearly and consistently.
- Escalate sensitive, ambiguous, urgent, or high-risk issues when needed.
- Support community health by identifying patterns, recurring issues, or emerging risks.
- Help ensure members have a respectful, useful, and trustworthy experience.
- Work independently while staying aligned with global moderation standards.
- Participate in training, calibration, feedback, and quality review processes.
- Use internal tools, workflows, and AI-assisted systems to improve moderation speed, consistency, and insight.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for thoughtful, reliable moderators who can balance policy, context, and human judgment.
You should be comfortable making decisions in gray areas, communicating clearly, and working independently without needing constant direction. You should also be willing to escalate when the situation calls for it.
The strongest candidates will bring experience moderating or supporting online communities at scale, but we are also open to candidates with adjacent experience in customer support, trust and safety, marketplace operations, gaming communities, social platforms, or forum environments.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in content moderation, trust and safety, customer support, community operations, marketplace operations, or a similar role involving user interaction at scale.
- Experience working in or around high-volume, user-generated environments such as forums, marketplaces, social platforms, gaming communities, online communities, or support queues.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to read and write fluently in the required language for the region.
- Ability to apply guidelines and policies while using sound judgment.
- Comfort making decisions in ambiguous or evolving situations.
- Ability to clearly document decisions, actions, and rationale.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned coverage responsibly.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfort using digital tools, moderation queues, documentation systems, and AI-assisted workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience moderating online communities, forums, Reddit, Discord, gaming communities, marketplaces, or social platforms.
- Familiarity with community dynamics such as peer-to-peer discussion, disputes, spam, abuse, content quality, member reporting, and escalation.
- Experience working in global, multi-region, or multilingual environments.
- Experience contributing to reporting, analysis, quality reviews, or operational summaries.
- Interest in AI-assisted moderation, workflow automation, and the future of community operations.
- Multilingual ability is a plus.
- Prior experience supporting marketplace, ecommerce, or customer community environments is a plus.
What We Value
- Good judgment over rigid rule-following.
- Clear thinkers who can explain why they made a decision.
- People who take ownership without needing constant direction.
- Calm decision-making in ambiguous or high-volume situations.
- Strong written communication.
- Reliability and consistency.
- Curiosity about how AI can improve moderation quality and efficiency.
- A service mindset toward both the community and the client.
- Passion for creating safe, useful, and high-quality online spaces.
